A gorgeous 3-4 day loop, or just walk in as far as you like on either track. Both connect to the Routeburn track, one of NZ's great walks, but are much cheaper at $15 a night in the huts.

If the weather's right you'll get gorgeous reflections too as you're surrounded by mountains. Dog friendly and starts/finishes in the village so it's easy to refresh yourself after.

A steep hike through the bush, with great views of Glenorchy once you're out of the bush. In winter the snow is nearby, in summer you'll have to hike quite a bit more to reach it. Roughly 4hrs return to the bushline.

Start anti-clockwise and you'll have wonderful views of Lake Wakatipu as you walk alongside it. Head into the bush up to Lake Rere and then come back along the Greenstone track. About 4hrs of walking.
