Great sledding park in the winter! Very hilly with some play toys. 10 minute drive from the Airbnb, lots of trails for hiking/walking. Next to the Holmberg Conservation Area (description from internet): "The property contains 104 acres adjacent to the west side of Holmberg Park. It is located along the east-facing slopes of Five Mile Prairie and provides a portion of a possible trail system around the prairie. The terrain ranges from gently rolling to very steep and from open space to heavily forested. The easternmost 9.5 acres are rolling to fairly level while the western 40 acres consist of steep timberland. The land provides a natural trail and wildlife corridor for various species of mammals and birds."

Outdoor Recreation

Mount Spokane is just 45 minutes from our door. It’s perfect for skiing/snowboarding in the winter. In the summer, it’s our favorite place to see the sunset. There’s a paved road all the way to the vista house at the top. There you have a 360 degree view, with visibility into Idaho! Breath taking and so accessible! Hiking and mountain biking trails too!

Coeur d’Alene, ID, is a beautiful resort city just 40 minutes from our house. There is so much to do there: hiking, swimming, biking, shopping. There is a beautiful down town public beach and park (with amazing play toys). Our very favorite place there is Tubbs Hill (see next entry for more info).

Our very favorite place in Coeur d’Alene is Tubbs Hill. This massive pile of rock juts out into the lake. There is a 3 mile gravel path that wanders around the hill. About a third of the way around is a beautiful sandy beach surrounded by cliffs that are perfect for jumping into the clear green-blue water. No bathroom on Tubbs Hill so be sure to use the bathrooms at McEuen Park.

Located in the beautiful Kendall Yards neighborhood, this is a very fun market with lots of fresh local food, organic items and specialties. We love all the bakery item but especially the macarons and the giant pretzels! Yummmmm.

This local coffee and gift shop is so fun! Packed full of high quality journals, paper, prints, chocolates, coffee and loose leaf tea, it also specializes in local Spokane gifts (mugs, stickers, etc). It features original posters of local neighborhoods and parks done by Spokane’s own Chris Bovey.
