This new location is a chocolate lover's amusement park! A feast for the senses, it is also incredibly popular. There is no better place for a coffee drink and some truffles...or perhaps a nitro-stout and ice cream float?? Yes, a beer and ice cream float!

New Belgium expanded from their Colorado roots when they opened up this brewery and distribution center recently. Situated on the bank of the French Broad River, the tasting room has a beautiful deck area and an impressive lineup of beers you can only get at the brewery. One of the best tours around, the company also is a great employer and the happy employees will prove it!

Tiny dive bar, total hipster haven, and just all around awesome. A $5 bourbon list that is always impressive, a shrine to Hank Williams, and an eclectic mix of wall decor that is too awesome and weird to be contrived. A favorite of mine, totally worth a drink or two. Sunday night features a legendary karaoke scene.

AKA: The Downtown Double Crown. Owned by the folks at the Double Crown, this downtown speakeasy is just as divey as it's sister bar and funky in its own way. Great cocktails, plenty of outdoor seating and a great lineup of local DJs.

Tough to describe the magical wonderland that is the Bywater. Situated right on the French Broad river, this hidden gem has everything for everybody. There is the river to sit at and watch the tubers getting out of the river. There is a covered stage and dance floor with a good mix of live music. Big bonfire pit. Park Style charcoal grills for you and your friends to grill up any food you bring with you (can't bring drinks), get there early and claim a grill and some picnic tables for your friends to celebrate another Saturday afternoon in WNC!

This resort spa is nestled in the mountain town of Hot Springs. The Appalachian Trail cuts through town and you'll see a lot of hikers enjoying a pint at the saloon or folks fly fishing on the rivers and creeks that converge here. The spa features private hot tubs you rent by the hour, filled fresh each time with water from a hot spring that is the namesake of the town. Long visited by native americans through to the well healed travelers of the 20's, this place will always be a refuge and healing center.

Not for the timid, this is a real deal small livestock and farm implement auction every Saturday morning. On the way towards Pisgah National Forest, Transylvania County Waterfalls, and the Natahala Outdoor Center...this is pure Americana at its finest! Goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, turkeys and ducks can all be auctioned in this old barn. Lots of camo overalls, chewing tobacco, and a auctioneer from another time! One of my favorite things you'll only see in southern appalachia.
