Taxis are the best option for public transportation
If you don't have a car, the next best option for transportation is to hire a taxi. Download the application "otaxi" and the taxi can pick you up from your location. The application uses a map to track your location and the driver's location. Note that they only accept cash!

Renting a car while in Muscat is the best and most convenient way to commute, especially when nothing is walking distance! Driving and traffic rules are pretty easy to follow, parking is mostly free, and it is safe to park your car anywhere and anytime. Also we provide a designated parking space at beach house.

Shaking hands with the opposite gender
In the Omani and Islamic culture, men and women do not shake hands unless they are first class relatives (siblings, parents, uncle/aunt, etc). Therefore we would advise to refrain from shaking hands with the opposite gender as it might make the other person uncomfortable. But that would be the worse that could happen.
