Food scene

Popular with Gawler locals, many people go there for breakfast or brunch. Weekend morning - it gets very busy. I really enjoyed their big breakfast with everything, their pancake breakfast and a coffee.
The Javahut
69 Murray St
Cibo is a popular cafe in South Australia, in many places - city and suburbs (not sure about outside SA). Italian style. I go there for coffee and reading sometimes. Italian donut was a repeat buy for me. It is in the middle-ish section of Murray St. It is frequented by many young people and office workers.
CIBO Espresso

Been there a couple of times for dinner, Asian food - lots of choices on the menu. Dine - in & Take - away. Not a big restaurant, it is worth booking if you wish to dine there. Food was nice, as a Chinese customer, I'm more interested in their South East Asian dishes from the menu. Curry dishes were delicious.

Been there once for dinner, super friendly service. Vietnamese - Chinese flavors for many of their dishes, big restaurant with many tables. I enjoyed their stir fried rice.

Nice inside - we went there shortly after the renovation was done. We enjoyed the aussie pub meals at night and the atmosphere was lovely - there was children friendly space for young families if my memory is correct. There are special prices daily/weekly, depending when you visit.

Quick easy meal option - if you feel like walking to somewhere for a meal and can't be bothered to drive, check this place out.

Been there a couple of times on special occasions (for dinners) - nice interior, nice pasta dishes, nice wines. Their coffee was good too. When it gets busy at night/on the weekend, it may be a bit crowded. Book a table to avoid disappointment. Not on the main street of Gawler, but only a couple of mins by car from the Airbnb. It is at Gawler Green where you have Coles, pharmacy, some shops and eateries, also very close to ALDI and Bunnings.

Been here a couple of times for dinner, next to Gawler cinema. Pizzas were absolutely my fave. Nice choices of wines. From my memory, they serve generous portions of food like the pasta dishes i had - there was a lot on the plate! Like Java Hut, this place is also popular with locals.

Not sure if the name is correct - the name I saw at shopfront was Gawler Bakery (as you can see in Pic 2). If you google Java hut on Murray Street, this bakery is next door. This bakery has been a little gem for delicious Vietnamese street food. Bread roll with pork / chicken / combination - I like all of them. Egg & bacon roll is good too. The owner Ryan and his wife (a young couple) are super friendly, Ryan makes food from scratch in the onsite kitchen every single day so authenticity and freshness is certainly guaranteed. Go there earlier if you can, in case what you want is sold out. They sell coffee & Australian bakery food too, such as pasties, sausage rolls, pies, etc. - all made by Ryan as well. This little bakery's counter usually gets bombarded by customers during lunch time. Seats are very limited - most people do takeaways. Quick easy food at a budget friendly price for travellers prior to their trip to Barossa.

This is a nice garden centre for those who love things for their gardens and have a browse of beautiful homeware, but I must say I love the food from their cafe! German apple cheese cake has been terribly missed - I had it only once but it was sold out everytime i visited there for it :( On a weekend, we go there for big breakfast with everything and Egg / Salmon Benedict - generous portion and absolutely a feeling of satisfaction! Their hot chippies and coffees were awesome too. Only a couple of mins by car from Airbnb, not far at all.

It s a new(ish) bakery/cafe in Gawler town, if you walk from my Airbnb, less than 5 mins to get there. My lovely friend (a Filipino Australian lady) is part of the team and makes delicious coffee. There are weekly/daily specials - check out their Facebook for details and updates. If you drop in for a coffee, feel free to say hi to my barista friend and Im sure she will look after you :)

Popular restaurant in Gawler selling thai vietnanmese chinese dishes - it gets very busy around dinner time, worth ringing them to book a table if you plan to go there. We ordered pud grapow chicken, red curry lamb and mongolian beef - it was enjoyable, but mongolian beef was abit sweet for my northern china chinese tastebud. Overall, i dont mind going back there again - next time I would focus more on thai dishes or curry dishes rather than chinese dishes. The stirfry rice dish in the pic looks yum too - on my tryout list for sure. Last but not least, keep in mind you may have to yell at each other at the table as the restaurant isnt quiet inside ;)
