This is a scenic waterfall in Island Park, about an hour from the cabin. It is accessible to those with physical limitations and offers some hiking trails for the more adventurous. There is also a great forest ranger station with pelts from the local animals that allows visitors to touch. Great place to take a picnic.

Mack's Inn River Floats. This is a great place to rent a raft, canoe or inner tubes and float down the river. Sometimes you can see the salmon swimming by. It’s a great place to enjoy the serenity of nature (if no one is screaming in delight) You are likely to see large animals come to drink and even Osprey and other birds of prey in the trees.

Fishing: Island Park offers world class fishing (salmon and trout). You will need a fishing license if over 12 years old. Check at the Phillips gas station on Hwy 20 before you turn onto Kilgore Yale Road. Stoddard Pond is about 2 miles from the cabin, at the junction of Kilgore Yale road and Old Kilgore Road. This pond is stocked with trout and is only for children under 12 years old. No fishing license needed. It’s a great place to learn to fish as well as explore frogs, insects and other pond creatures. You can check with local merchants for fishing rods and tackle.

Buy groceries before you reach Island Park
There are not major markets in Island Park. West Yellowstone, WY and Ashton, ID are the closest towns with a larger food market (each about 40 minutes from the cabin). Rexburg, ID has a Super Walmart (about 1 hour from the cabin). The Phillips gas station on Hwy 20 before you turn onto Kilgore Yale Road has a small convenience store.

A Moose has been known to hang around the subdivision. Most often seen early in the morning or at dusk Be aware of wildlife as this is a forest.

Average summer temperatures are in the mid 70's The weather can change from rainy to sunny in one day.
In the winter, heavy snowfall. Be prepared with chains or snow tires and appropriate attire.
