Το αρχαίο θέατρο των Φιλίππων βρίσκεται στην αρχαία πόλη. Η αρχαία πόλη εντοπίζεται στην ανατολική Μακεδονία, συγκεκριμένα στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Καβάλας, στην περιοχή που παλαιότερα λεγόταν Κρηνίδες.
Η πόλη των Φιλίππων ιδρύθηκε το 360 π. Χ. ως αποικία των Θασίων και κατείχε στρατηγική θέση. Το 356 π. Χ. ο Φίλιππος Β΄ κατέλαβε την πόλη, ολοκλήρωσε την οχύρωσή της και την μετονόμασε σε Φιλίππους. Στην εποχή αυτή ανάγεται και η πρώτη φάση του αρχαίου θεάτρου. Η πόλη εξελίχθηκε σε μια από τις σημαντικότερες της Μακεδονίας.
Η στιγμή της άνθισης για τους Φιλίππους έγινε τον 2ο αι. μ.Χ,. όπως αποδεικνύεται από τα λαμπρά κτίρια που κοσμούσαν την πόλη, με πιο σημαντικό το ανακαινισμένο της θέ

Το αρχαίο θέατρο των Φιλίππων βρίσκεται στην αρχαία πόλη. Η αρχαία πόλη εντοπίζεται στην ανατολική Μακεδονία, συγκεκριμένα στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Καβάλας, στην περιοχή που παλαιότερα λεγόταν Κρηνίδες.

Το μέγαρο όπου στεγάζεται σήμερα ο Δήμος Καβάλας αποτελεί ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά κτίσματα της πόλης, με μια μοναδική αρχιτεκτονική γραμμή που φαντάζει «ξένη» μέσα στο χώρο της Kαβάλας και παραπέμπει σε μικρογραφία Ουγγρικού πύργου. Η οικοδόμησή του τοποθετείται στο τέλος της δεκαετίας του 1890.
Άλλη μια όμορφη διαδρομή που πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να ακολουθήσετε είναι αυτή που οδηγεί στο επιβατικό λιμάνι της πόλης. Μπορείτε να ξεκινήσετε από το Δημοτικό Πάρκο Φαλήρου το οποίο αποτελεί μια πηγή δροσιάς στο κέντρο της Καβάλας και βρίσκεται δίπλα στο Ανοικτό Κολυμβητήριο. Στο χώρο του πάρκου υπάρχει γήπεδο μπάσκετ, παιδική χαρά και μια καφετέρια από όπου μπορεί ο επισκέπτης να θαυμάσει την υπέροχη θέα της Παλιάς Πόλης της Καβάλας και του λιμανιού.

Άλλη μια όμορφη διαδρομή που πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να ακολουθήσετε είναι αυτή που οδηγεί στο επιβατικό λιμάνι της πόλης. Μπορείτε να ξεκινήσετε από το Δημοτικό Πάρκο Φαλήρου το οποίο αποτελεί μια πηγή δροσιάς στο κέντρο της Καβάλας και βρίσκεται δίπλα στο Ανοικτό Κολυμβητήριο. Στο χώρο του πάρκου υπάρχει γήπεδο μπάσκετ, παιδική χαρά και μια καφετέρια από όπου μπορεί ο επισκέπτης να θαυμάσει την υπέροχη θέα της Παλιάς Πόλης της Καβάλας και του λιμανιού.

Mohammed Ali’s Residence is considered one of the most characteristic surviving examples of 18th-century Ottoman architecture in Greece.

In the Square named for Mohammed Ali (1769-1849), which is located in the Panagia peninsula, in the Old Town of Kavala, his residence and statue can be found. The statue is by the famous sculptor Konstantinos Dimitriadis. It was created in Paris and depicts Mohammed Ali, the general and founder of the Egyptian dynasty, with his sword in its sheath since, according to tradition, he was returning home to rest. There is a similar sculpture in Egypt, which shows him on horseback but holding his sword up high, in an expression of glory.
