Drinks & Nightlife

Even though I tagged this as a bar, it's also a fantastic music venue, with multiple floors and multiple gigs happening at once! The rooftop bar is romantic and fun. The middle floor is almost like hanging out in your own rec room (darts, TV, games, comfy seats, etc), The Temple in the back is SRO and brings some big-name/small venue names to town. There's also a stage in the front bar, and a speakeasy in the basement. Something for everyone here!

Parks & Nature

Go here to rent your kayaks and get a ride up the river, then enjoy a leisurely float down through some of our beautiful Pennsylvania nature. Day rates aren't bad, and Marty can tell you anything you want to know about the Susquehanna River and surrounding areas.

This is a unique piece of Lancaster history. The library is housed in an old farmhouse built in the 1700's. They have an impressive children's collection, as well as curriculum for teachers and homeschoolers, and every book you might imagine on topics from organic gardening to foraging to building your own "tiny house" to urban homesteading and surviving the apocalypse. Something for everyone here! When you hike the trails in the park, keep an eye out for wildlife. Then, when you stop into the library to cool off, make a note on the whiteboard of critters you spied - you may be impressed by what others have seen!

Arts & Culture

This is a small but interesting museum that tells the story of Lancaster from its humble beginnings. Also on the property is the former home of President James Buchanan, who is widely considered by historians to be the worst president in US history. Take a tour of the mansion, and once you hear his tragic story you can decide for yourself if he was just a victim of circumstance. On a nice day, this museum is within walking distance!

If you have time to take in a show, the Fulton is second to none. Broadway performers (and some local) put on musicals of all genres (not opera, usually). We've never been disappointed!

Right in the heart of downtown Lancaster, this is a fun place where you can glaze a piece of pottery. They have decorative items and utilitarian items, like mugs and plates and such. If you want to do this project, best at the beginning of your stay, so it's done firing by the time you leave!
