Drinks & Nightlife
Whenever I am in Altea this is my local bar, because it accommodates for all walks of life; from non-drinkers (they have an excellent tea menu) to tourists and locals alike.
AlteArte is a great place to meet other like-minded people at many of the events that they put on: from film and book clubs, to a weekly Spanish/English language exchange.
The bar also functions as an Art Gallery showcasing work from local and international artists, who work in many different mediums.

Sightseeing
La Cúpula is the main Church in the historic part of old town Altea. The Church is Arabic-Moorish influenced and it's blue and white tiled roof is known as " The dome of the Mediterranean" and a symbol of Altea.

Parks & Nature
El Faro in the next town to Altea (Albir) is a great walk/jog/run for all ages and abilities. You would need to either drive to the car park at the bottom of the mountain, or take a bus from Altea into Albir and then it is a short walk to the car park/beginning of the ascent.
Once at El Faro you take the gentle, peaceful and winding trail all the way to the top, where there is a lighthouse that is perfectly maintained. The lighthouse is open for viewing most days.
What is particularly special about El Faro is the strong (but not over-powering) smell of the surrounding Pine Trees, which really give a sensory indulgence, alongside the stunning views that are all around.
The walk takes most people around 1.5 hours to the top and back down again. There are little "off-shoots" from the main path, which are also great for exploring. Furthermore, there are tables and chairs at the bottom of the trail, perfect for "comida fuera", so feel free to stay in the general area as long as you like.

Getting Around
This is the central train station in Altea. Tickets are purchased on the train. The train has two destinations: Denia and Benidorm. Once in Benidorm there is a connecting train to Alicante.

Entertainment & Activities
La Marina is a great little shopping centre close to Benidorm and around a 20 minute drive in the car from Altea. Inside there are shops such as H&M, Zara and Mango, alongside specialist shops such as Vodafone, home decor and optical shops.
The shopping centre also has a bowling alley, arcade games, a cinema and restaurants onsite. There are further restaurants in the immediate area, as well as larger discount shops, a pet supply shop and the train station stop; which is just in front of the centre.
