Probably the finest bird park of it's kind in Central America. World class bird reserve just 10 minutes from the village of Copan Ruinas. Macaw Mtn is a pioneer in the repopulation of Scarlet Macaws in the Copan Valley with most of these majestic birds taking up residence in the main archeological site. Truly impressive!

This wonderful project sponsored by Macaw Mountain has released dozens of macaws in the Copan Valley, most have made their home at the ruins ... lovely + fascinating!

La Sepulturas is a separate archeological site located 1 km from the main site. Your entry ticket to the main site is also valid to visit Las Sepulturas. There is a very nice dedicated walking path from the main site to Sepulturas. Las Sepulturas was home to the Maya elite of Copan. Very interesting, uncrowded + lovely site to explore.

CA-11La Sepulturas is a separate archeological site located 1 km from the main site. Your entry ticket to the main site is also valid to visit Las Sepulturas. There is a very nice dedicated walking path from the main site to Sepulturas. Las Sepulturas was home to the Maya elite of Copan. Very interesting, uncrowded + lovely site to explore.
Rastrojon is the newest archeological site to be excavated + opened to visitors. Located appts 2 km from the main archeological site, just behind Hotel Clarion. You walk or take a mototaxi/tuk tuk. Lovely small site with some great structures. The highlight is a elongated building which has slid part way down a hill due to the instability of the terrain. Fascinating place!

Fascinating place!

Copan has one of the best Maya museums around!
One of the finest museums of it's kind of the Mundo Maya area. The museum is accesses via an atmospheric underground tunnel reminiscent of the tunnels dug by archeologists. Upon entry to the main body of the museum, visitors are met me a full scale replica of the exceptional Rosalila Temple, the only fully intact temple found to date in the Maya World. As well the museum houses original stelae + complete architectural facades. A lovely place to get up close + personal with some of the finest sculpture found to date.

One of the better places in town for a good typical Honduran meal. Specialties included pupusas ( corn tortilla filled with a variety of fillings as well as old stand byes like carne a la plancha + pollo a la plancha.
