A very avant-garde restaurant, with an eclectic modern menu that might not please all tastes, but will surely be exciting. Good for a dinner for two, and they now have a bakery that's open in the mornings. The kitchen is run by an all-female crew!

One of our favorite Cuban places in NYC, has a great happy hour and fantastic food. Their empanadas and their cuban sandwich are amazing, but we never found anything we didn't like. They also deliver!

One of the best pizzas around, we really love their White Album pie. The rest of their menu is also pretty good! Make sure to get a reservation if you're coming here on a Fri-Sun night.

A very hip restaurant, with a young crowd sipping cocktails. The food is good (not *fantastic*), but this is a good place if you have to have some fun at the bar, see and be seen.

A cost-conscious option for good Middle Eastern food. Try their homemade spiced bread, it comes steaming and delicious. Their chicken shawarma is also a decent and cheap option. Probably a place to take food with you (or get delivery).

A good place to try out a traditional NYC bagel - we like ours "everything toasted with cream cheese" (Daniel) and "sesame toasted with butter" (Thaisa). You can also get a bacon/egg/cheese bagel sandwich, and that can be a whole meal.

Italian restaurant, with rustic and tasty food, and good house wine. It is always busy, particularly during Fall and Winter, when they only have tables inside. We recommend making a reservation online. The ambiance is interesting, as it used to be a pharmacy and was transformed into a restaurant.

Already a Brooklyn classic, Ample Hills makes absolutely delicious ice creams, and has both a stable set of flavors (Ooey Gooey is our favorite!) and a bunch of great seasonal flavors. You can't go wrong here, although you might find some lines - this is their original location.

The original location of one of the most famous donut places in NYC. Started in Bed-Stuy in 2010, Dough helped start the donut "revolution", with delicious flavors like Almond Dulce de Leche and Salted Chocolate Caramel. They recently re-opened as Fan Fan Doughnuts, from the same owners. Ask them for their favorite flavor of the day, as their selection is always changing!

A nice local spot for beer drinkers - a great selection, and the possibility of taking home some of their most unique findings. We really like the fact that they'll make cans of beer for you to take home! No (or very limited) food.

An absolute must-visit in Brooklyn, and our favorite park in all of NYC. Designed by the same people that designed Central Park in Manhattan, Prospect Park is a wonderful oasis in the middle of the busy city. You can picnic during the summer, ice skate during the winter, jog/cycle throughout the year, play tennis/basketball in the various courts, bring your pets to play in the grass (on leash!). Nearby you'll find the lovely brownstones of Park Slope, the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Grand Army Plaza (which has a farmer's market on Saturday's)... You should definitely try to spend at least 1 day of your visit to Brooklyn in the Prospect Park area.
