Drinks & Nightlife

Nob Hill is our shopping and dining district along historic Route 66, just east of the UNM main campus along Central Avenue. Interestingly, Albuquerque's iconic stretch of "The Mother Road" is the biggest tourist draw for the State of New Mexico, for our Land of Enchantment that is otherwise fully loaded with historic and cultural Hispanic and Native American highlights. Nob Hill has breweries, and fine restaurants and casual nightclubs with live music, and various types of eateries to suit both your palate and pocketbook. Go here to sample the perfect margarita, micro brews, and/or taste the fruits of NM wineries that have become integral to our state's economy. Nob Hill offers a plethora of antique, collectibles, vintage and other interesting theme shops -- shop where the film and TV industry shops for props, such as the Town House Antique Mall on Central Ave at Morningside Drive; which is a museum in of itself. Mention you are staying at our Casita Santuario and you can receive an complimentary 10% off any item there from SouthWESTERN Ware (dealer #96) that is $10 or more (prompt the cashier before you are rung up though please). We sell affordable and authentic SW souvenirs and a stylish high-desert clothing line that features natural fibers like silk, cotton, linen, rayon. Venturing on or off Central Avenue along the neighboring residential streets one can see interesting well-kept and restored older homes with creative Southwestern flair. Plenty of cultural history with the iconic motels of the early Route 66 motor way hey-day and original retro architecture along here. Nob Hill offers something for everyone, quite affordable and not as pretentious or over priced as Santa Fe venues can sometimes be. Be sure to also take in Old Town Albuquerque (similar to Santa Fe and Taos Old Town plazas) if you can.

Explore either eastern side or go deep into the western side of the bluff. Easy to miss the gate for western access, it is on the south side of Route 40, around 3 miles west of the turn off for the Jemez Mtns. Pack a picnic lunch. It's a long hike in but worth it to experience a couple ruined ranch buildings of forgotten New Mexico.
