Food Scene

Beautifully restored to its former glory with a couple of extra funky touches, this gorgeous cafe is worth checking out, not only for the beautiful restoration and gorgeous pressed tin ceiling but for the great breakfasts (try the potato rosti) lunches and a range of locally sourced produce.

The best pies this side of the GDR (great dividing range people!) and excellent coffee. We like to think of it as our little slice of Surry Hills, without the parking hassles.

Drinks & Nightlife

Known as the 'friendly pub' it's a great spot to soak up some local nightlife or tuck into a great meal. In winter the fire is roaring and it's toasty warm!

A great spot to sample the local brew! Keep an eye out for the open sign on the main drag of Uralla. Thursday nights are 'local night' (don't tell anyone I told you) where you'll get to mingle with the locals who are a delightfully eclectic and friendly bunch.

Parks & Nature

If you're after a dose of nature, there's loads of beautiful national parks and waterfalls in the rugged gorge country of the northern tablelands.
About 40 kms to the east is one of the longest drop waterfalls in NSW. Commonly known (by me) as the local water feature, it's a stunning introduction to the gorge country, and starting point for loads of bushwalks. Get there after the rain and see it really pumping!

A jewel in the crown of New England national Parks, the views from Point Lookout are fabulous, and if you like walks and ancient Gondwana rainforests you'll feel like you're in heaven. And at a tad over 1500 feet, you are just that little bit closer.

Essentials

This local supermarket has a great range of items but can close earlier during winter. You're in the country now and you might have to keep an eye on opening times.
