Some of the best & cheapest Vietnamese food you'll find this side of the Pacific! Sixth street isn't for the faint of heart, but if you're looking for delicious Pho, this is the place.

All around good "California" style food (basically just add avocado to whatever dish.) Fun art on the walls, and a patio out back for nice days.

Great soul food, presented in a very modern & tidied up fashion. Not a bad bar, either.

(ALSO AT 6th AND MARKET) Best. Brunch. Ever. Expect to wait in line for 20-30 minutes, even on weekdays. If you go solo they'll often let you skip the line and seat you at the bar.

A true SF establishment. Quite a voyage, but you can get out here on the Muni (N line) and then hit up the Park or the ocean. Read the history before going: http://bit.ly/1ESGzg7

Some amazing pizza in the heart of Little Italy. Get whatever pies suit your fancy, but save room for dessert: the pear & gorgonzola pizza is worth the visit alone.

If you need the absolute closest coffee / sandwich, this is the place. A few steps further will get you much better of both.

One of the best hot sandwiches you'll ever eat. If you like to eat cows, get the Boca. I'm a vegetarian now and still dream about this place.

Rated one of the top 50 bars in the world. The decor is fun (if you dig Tiki,) and the rum selection is seemingly infinite.

The dive bar's dive bar. You'll probably walk past it a few times before noticing the door. The drinks are cheap, atmosphere dingy, and the company is rowdy. One of my favorite after-midnight places.
