Sightseeing
Notre Dame has a very special place in our hearts - my husband and I met while we were students there. It is a beautiful and special campus, and a must-see while you're in the area. Here are a few places on campus we recommend checking out:
- The Main Building (golden dome): Driving down Notre Dame Avenue into campus, you'll see the "dome" right in front of you. You can park in the bookstore parking lot (on your left as you drive down Notre Dame Avenue). From there, it is a short walk to see the main building.
- The Basilica: Right next to the main building is Notre Dame's basilica. It is a gorgeous church with floor-to-ceiling arches, beautiful art and stained glass, and fantastic architecture. The Mass schedule can be found online.
- The Grotto: Walking behind the main building, you will find the Grotto. Light a candle for your intention and spend a moment enjoying the view of the hundreds of lit candles.
- Hesburgh Library - the library is famous for the "touchdown Jesus" artwork on the front of the building. During day hours, you can walk through the building and may see students studying in groups on the first floor. Across from the library is the football stadium.
- The Bookstore: The bookstore on campus has a huge selection of Notre Dame merchandise to browse.

Food scene
Eddy Street Commons is across the street from Notre Dame and has a wide selection of food places. Chipotle, Blaze pizza, Five Guys, and Noodles and Co are casual takeout options. If you'd like to do a sit-down meal, O'Rourkes or Bru Burger are great options. Just know that the restaurants can be very crowded during big university events (graduation, football games).
