Sightseeing

Elijah Bristow is a beautiful place to explore for a few hours a nice day. There are extensive trails that wind through forest, marshland, along the river, and past meadows. There is also a large, open dog park where your furry companion can enthusiastically enjoy running at top speed and playing with other canine friends.

A great place for a quick day hike for a view or a more leisurely walk around the forest and along the river. Dogs on leashes are welcome.

Exploring here can feel like you are on a different planet! walking along the water's edge leaves a person feeling like they've discovered something no one else has probably seen before. The dirt strewn earth stretches out far in front, similar to a beach, but with boulders to climb over now and then. The walk leads to small ravines where small tributaries feed into the river. You'll need to find your way across these, sometimes leaping, sometimes stepping, to continue on with more of the same and yet the landscape continues to feel refreshingly new.

This is a great place to enjoy the lake, just a mile away. You can wander through the trails or take a dip in the buoy protected swimming area. You can kayak, or paddle board in the lake or just enjoy a picnic and the view from the shore.

Food scene

This lovely locally owned and operated Market has many grocery items, gas, and some of the best Cheeseburgers in the area! The dining area isn't anything special but we love to order burgers and take them just down the road to Lowell State Park where we enjoy eating while enjoying the view of the lake.

This coffee and sweet treat shop is so cute and they have well-made coffee drinks. It's locally owned and operated and has a small town feel. We like to take a little stroll down the hill, order our drinks, hang out for at the shop for a bit, and then hike back up the hill to home. They have also recently started lunch items, one lunch option each day, but we haven't tried any of these items yet.

City/town information

Eugene is a unique college town that takes being a little weird with food seriously. Foodies will enjoy finding excellent food trucks and established restaurants equally. Restaurants we recommend are: Off the Waffle, Sabai, and Subo!

Behind the school, there are covered basketball hoops. This court is open to the public but you'll rarely see others playing. It's a great place to go if the rain has you stranded but you'd like to move your body! It also has a great playground for kids to run, climb, swing and play.
