Lovely (and closest to Primrose Farm) seaside town. Independent shops and various places to eat, drink and enjoy. Book ahead at restaurants, pubs to eat where you can. The Lord Nelson is a great traditional pub. Mills & Sons & Daughters is a great butcher. The Black Olive Deli and The Magpie Bakery are worth a visit too.

Woodbridge is about 45 minutes for us but a nice place to spend a day. It is a historic market town based on the River Deben and close to major archaeological sites of the Anglo-Saxon period, including the Sutton Hoo burial ship. the nearny Unruly Pig pub and restaurant is an absolute delight. (Book ahead!) Shingle Street and Orford (including Orford Ness National Nature Reserve) are nearby beautiful coastal places worth a visit too.

An unusual village, bought in 1910 by Stuart Ogilvie who wanted to create his own fantasy holiday destination. It is great for walking, cycling, birdwatching and is surrounded by heathland, marshland and a shingle beach. There is a boating lake 'magical meare' and don't miss the House In The Clouds. The Dolphin Pub serves good food and breakfast / brunch / lunch is good at The Kitchen.

This is a working harbour and you can buy fresh fish at the stalls there daily. The Sole Bay Fish Company also serves excellent seafood. The Harbour Inn is an old, busy and much enjoyed local pub for food and drinks.

Neighbourhoods

Beccles is a small town and the Broads start here. It is about 8 miles from Primrose Farm. This is the easiest place to shop if you want supermarkets with both a Tesco and a Morrisons. There is a Lido and the Black Dog Ferry (pre-bookings )only runs along the river to the Locks Inn at Geldeston (we haven't used it ourselves) ....
