The museum is in a 17th century mansion that is worth the visit for the building, terrace, and garden café alone. It houses information on calendars both ancient and modern. Most of the exhibits feature popular culture artists who produced the paintings for Mexican calendars. My favorites are the calendars from the 1940s showcasing WWII world politics. Also the many images of Mesoamerican mythology are fabulous. Again, do not forget to go up to the terrace for a great view of the cupulas of four surrounding churches. The garden café feels like another world with its many birds and cool greenery. Great Mexican and international food that is around $5 a plate! Light bistro fare (sandwiches, salads, breakfasts, enchiladas, chilaquiles, etc. Large portions) An excellent place to get away for a few hours with a cappuchino and a calm quite garden.

This governors mansion housed the "book club" that started the Mexican struggle for independence. Just inside the main patio are four hyper realistic murals painted on slabs of stone which feature the protagonists of Mexican independence, the Reform, and the Mexican Revolution. Amazing public works of art that are free and only take a few minutes to appreciate. If you want more, there are tour guides available to show you the rest of this historical building.

The central baroque patio is among the best examples of baroque architecture in the country and has been featured on Mexican currency. This patio is a must for art and architecture lovers. The largest green space in the center of Querétaro. beautiful old trees, flowers, monuments. The well known "Canción mizteca" was written in this park by a homesick Oaxacan soldier during the Mexican Revolution. At times, the monarch butterflies rest in the trees here on their way down to Michoacan. If you are in Querétaro in October, you might catch them at dawn (viewing from the edges of the park, since it opens after dawn)
