The Torcal de Antequera Natural Park contains one of the most impressive examples of karst landscape in Europe and owes its name to the dolinas or torcas, curious formations in the shape of circular depressions. El Torcal is dominated by limestone, rocks more than 150 million years old, formed by marine sediments that are very sensitive to erosion. The slow but continuous action of rain, snow and wind on this material has shaped this characteristic landscape. Its caves and chasms form an ideal environment for potholing. Some of them, such as El Toro and Marinaleda I, contain traces of man's presence in El Torcal since prehistoric times. Two routes invite you to lose yourself in this city of stone. The path that starts at the Torcal Alto visitor centre, known as the green route, is where the karst forms are most spectacular. Here, visitors should let themselves be led along the Callejón Oscuro (Dark Alley) or the Callejón del Tabaco (Tobacco Alley), examples of the multitude of passages created by the sinking of the fractures in the ground. The rocks here are a collection of natural sculptures, some with familiar shapes, such as the Natural Monument El Tornillo del Torcal, the Sombrerillo, the Cáliz or the Dado, among many others that await to be defined by the imagination and fantasy of those who walk through them. The Torcal de Antequera is a unique natural site, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

Beautiful Cities and Towns around Finca Anastasia. 🚙

The beloved city of Hans Christian Andersen, Malaga (approx. 550.000 inhabitants) is the largest coastal city in Andalusia and the birthplace of Pablo Picasso. Although the city of Malaga is better known for its bars than its beaches, the city has a lot to offer. There are locals with local and foreign exchange students strolling and meeting in outdoor cafes for beers and tapas, a nightlife with plenty of options for all tastes, and an enviable monumental heritage: the Alcazaba, the Cathedral and the Bullring, among others. Not to be missed is a visit to the old town, the historical, cultural and culinary heart of the city. Because Malaga is the hub of the transport network, many pass through it on their way to other coastal towns, but it is well worth a couple of days to get to know it. Torremolinos attracts tourists with its fantastic beaches and vibrant nightlife in the coastal area, other places such as Malaga, Fuengirola and Nerja are just as interesting for tourists.

Nerja is a tourist resort on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain. The Balcón de Europa, situated on a promontory, overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains. At its foot, there are sandy beaches and coves next to cliffs. Nearby are the caves of Nerja, with very original stalactites and stalagmites, as well as Palaeolithic paintings, which can be admired on guided tours. Concerts are organised in these caves during the summer season and are very well received.

One of the “must see” sights in Nerja are the Nerja caves (Cuevas de Nerja). The Nerja Caves are very, very impressive. The immensity is mind-blowing – it's important to know while walking around this hugeness that the space open to the public only constitutes about one third of the total caves. Stretching for almost 5-kilometres the Nerja Caves are a series of underground caverns that contain the largest stalagmite in the world, a towering 32-metre high column with a 13 by 7-metre base. You will also find the oldest work of art known to man. It is recommended to book the tickets for the caves of Nerja in advance via the Fundación Cueva de Nerja website and to show up 10 minutes before the scheduled entry. Entries are allowed every 30 minutes. In the Nerja Caves, you and your family will enjoy a 45-minute excursion of one of the most important caves in the World.

Frigiliana is known for its traditional style of whitewashed houses, cobbled streets and natural surroundings, and is one of the prettiest villages in Spain. Many of its narrow streets have been preserved as they once were, with some houses covered with tiles. It is highly recommended to watch the sunset from Frigiliana, situated on the heights of the Montes.

Famous for its gardens and beaches, Marbella offers tourists a special panorama, a contrast of sea, mountains, towns and cosmopolitan cities. The modern area is full of large blocks of buildings that have grown up around its historic centre and port. Its privileged location, at the foot of the Sierra Blanca, on the first line of the coast, provides excellent climatic conditions as well as great scenic beauty. Its origins date back to Roman times, of which there are abundant archaeological remains; likewise, from the Arab period it conserves two towers and the walls of the Castle; from the Christian period, in the old quarter, it conserves the Church of La Encarnación, the Casa del Corregidor and the Hospital of San Juan de Dios. But where Marbella really abounds is in sun and beach tourism: splendid and extensive beaches, natural areas of interest such as the Dunes of Cabopino or the Pinewoods of Las Chapas, marinas, golf courses, sports clubs and a wide variety of establishments that justify its fame. Seven kilometres away is the populous town of San Pedro de Alcántara, an annexe of Marbella, which was born as a result of the installation of a sugar mill in 1860.

Mijas is one of the must-visit villages in Malaga, and there's a reason why it's one of the most famous. Known for its flower-potted slopes, and the donkey taxis that generate controversial opinions, it is clearly not to be missed on your tour of the Costa del Sol. The beautiful scenery of endless whitewashed houses climbing up the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas, contrasts with the intense green of the pine trees, offering one of the most recognisable and picturesque images of Andalucía. Some of the most emblematic places in the village are the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña and the Mirador del Compás from where you can enjoy breathtaking views. We can also go to the Castle of the Walls to stroll through its gardens and walk along the walls of an ancient castle from the 15th century, which was declared a site of cultural interest in 1985.

This humble and diabolical trail runs through the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, an impressive canyon opened by the Guadalhorce river. It is one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Malaga mountains. Between the municipalities of Álora, Antequera and Ardales, it is 3 kilometres long and reaches heights of up to 300 metres. It was originally a small service path that connected the small water dam of Gaitanejo with the hydroelectric waterfall of El Chorro.

A city in southern Spain with grand Islamic architecture, free tapas, counterculture street art and a beer spa, Granada surprises and delights visitors. Many are drawn to the vibrant Spanish city for its show-stopping hilltop fortress, the Alhambra. But all are soon swept up by the fast, fun pace of life in the city. Lose yourself in the maze-like streets running through lively neighbourhoods like Realejo and Albaicín, where tender tapas are dished out for free with every cold glass of beer, and powerful street art adorns weathered walls. Here are a few reasons to launch yourself into the heart of Granada and beyond.

When you visit our beautiful city of Malaga, one thing you should definitely do is to stroll through the Atarazanas food market. Not only is the building itself well worth your time, but as well the mouth-watering local, seasonal treasures and the people selling them. A feast for the eyes, ears, nose and mouth, because one of our recommendations is not only to look, but to actually savor! Naturally. So grab a big bag and some spare time and enjoy what our region has to offer. The Atarazanas market opens from Monday to Saturday, from 8am to around 2-3pm, depending on every stall holder, since they would simply close when they’re sold out. So we would recommend you to go as early as possible, as well because there is less traffic- although that can also be part of the charm of this experience! Just one thing you need to know: on Mondays, the fish department is closed, since they don’t go fishing on Sundays and therefore don’t have fresh fish this day. But on any other day, let yourself be delighted by the colors and the distinctive voices that could definitely fill whole opera houses, announcing the fresh catches of the day. Just go with the flow…
