Wells is very close to a wonderfully rich and varied natural landscape. There are many great walks both from the house and just outside the town. There are challenge versions for energetic hikers and accessible walks for those who needs wheels to get places.

Opposite Stockhill woods is the ancient (disused) quarry now nature reserve. Find newts in the pond and climb the hill to explore a line of 11 ancient burial mounds in an epic landscape with only the sound of the larks to hear.

This is a popular and beautiful place to swim for both young and older. If it is very busy look for the footpath sign just over the bridge turn left and find a spot on the banks of the field to swim from.
