In the street Castaños you will find a wide range of restaurants and bars and the best cocktail bar in town called "Nic" (they have won several awars and have a huge selection of hummy cocktails).

If you want to taste a good home-made mojito (different from what you get elsewhere), visit this place in the lower old tow. Nice music, but not at all a fancy place. This place has been around since before i arrived in Alicante (more then 20 years ago now) and way before the mojito became a trendy, mainstream drink, and doesn't need to advertise as it is very famous among the locals (mind your head when entering)!

Love this place for montaditos, tapas and great views of the Co-cathedral San Nicolás! And not to forget the always smiling waiters!
Try the montadito called "Iván" with turrón, it won a prize in Alicante Tapeate Contest and is super hummy!

A small and quiet (sometimes difficult to find) restaurant that offers a few set daily lunch menus (at night, prics are different as in all the restaurants). The dishes are exquisitely prepared and presented.

One of my favourite tapas places. They offer affordable tapas menus, good deals, great food and friendly service. Typical Spanish restaurant, so can get loud on weekends ;-)

This restaurant is a favourite of locals too and i would recomend you to use their terrace which is located on the "Explanada" called Terraza del Gourmet.

This restaurant has the title of "arrocería" (rice restaurant) and it is definitly one of the places where you can try one of our rice dishes. As they are specialised at it, their menu offers a wide range of rice dishes. By the way, in Alicante we say rice dish, not paella ;-)
