The city can be notorious for horrible traffic. A couple things to consider... Sometimes local routes are faster than the freeway, espcially I4. Evening commutes on I4 can consistently exceed an hour. From 3PM to 7:30PM I would avoid it. Take the 408 or other toll routes when available. The cost is minimal given the expediency.

Often I see families spending long days at theme parks, leaving as they are closing for the night. Be prepared however that many restaurants in the city may not be open late, or if they are they may be either inconvenient or not child friendly. I would consider purchasing some convenient snacks to have around and maybe a few easy to prepare meals on the premises for those times.

I suggest a few things to my female friends that seem to be well appreciated. 1) Comfortable linen trousers. They can easily be worn casual, but paired with a black thin T and a very light cardigan - you can enjoy a more elegant evening without sweating. 2) The city is far from formal, yet not entirely appropriate for an island getaway feel. Think light materials easily paired up. For men.. Proper solid color well fitting shorts and perhaps a quality polo, can be both comfy and appropriate at many locales.

Keep a few bottles of water or your fave beverage handy. Even if it remains in the car with a cooler of ice. We have coolers we are happy to lend in this instance. Summer months are very humid and you will want drinks... at the ready!
