Cave diving location ( only with correct licences and permits etc.) It is worth walking down to the end of the street and having a look. The sinkhole appeared quite suddenly one night in the late 1800s. A man was driving his horse and cart along Bay road when suddenly the road opened up and swallowed both horse and cart! The driver was lucky enough to clamber out safely, not so the horse and cart. Legend has it that the cart travelled underground all the way to the ocean, finally coming to rest on a beach in New Zealand!
