Tons of animals - elephants, deer and bison. A lot of tigers as well. But you need to be very lucky to see them. I have seen only once in about 5 visits to the place. Good luck !!

Typical 2-day itinerary

Here's something for you to consider Day 1: (depends on what time you reach) Relax and trek in the plantation - ask the estate manager - Prasad to show you around the coffee plantation. This is to be done before dark. Please do not venture out in the estate after dark. Alternatively - sight seeing before it gets dark - within a 10 km radius of our property * Naalknaadu palace - which sheltered the King of Virajpet during his fight with the British * igguthappa temple - ancient temple of the Kodava community * Thadayanda mol - highest peak in the western ghats (trekking) * Virajpet town visit - 18th century St Anne's church; Clock tower There are more options - but it depends on time - and these can be done on another day as well Day 2: After breakfast Drive to Madikeri (aka Mercara) Make sure you check out the following - Rajas seat, old fort (Govt offices now), Raja's tomb, Omkareshwara temple,Abbey falls If you are interested trekking - Madalpatti hills should be added - it's a short drive from Madikeri - but your vehicle needs to have good power for this !! Another side trip could be to Talacauvery - the origin of the river Cauvery! (45 mins drive) from Madikeri. Make sure you eat at Madikeri though - as there are good options there If you get late - might as well have dinner in Madikeri Day 3: after breakfast drive to Sidapur and head to Dubare elephant camp - nice picnicy type location on the banks of Cauvery with tons of elephants ! And head to the largest Tibetan settlement in the world at Bylakyppe - and the Namdroling monastery (golden temple) before heading back to Bangalore
