It's unique in the sense that all the shops only line one side of the street, with the other side giving shoppers breathtaking views of the Old Town cityscape. Princes Street Gardens, which runs alongside is a venue for seasonal markets including the German Christmas Market. There is also the Farmers' Market selling fresh, homegrown produce is held every Saturday from 9am - 2pm up by Castle Terrace.
