Heian Jingu is a large shrine which hosts the Festival of the Ages as well as a lot of traditional weddings. Free of charge during the day, but you will need to pay to enter the wonderful gardens.

Konkai Komyo-ji (Kurodani) is a large temple coplex with various interesting buildings and sub-temples and a very impressive main gate (south). The views of Kyoto city from here are also quite nice.

Rokujian cafe and gallery is a great spot to stop for coffee or lunch. They have very reasonable lunch sets and very clean and cozy surrounds. Please say "HI" to Yumi and Sota (they speak English).

This Fresco supermarket opened in 2016 and is open from 9-12 daily. Its about 2min walk from the house. Upstairs there is a Y100 shop called Seria where you can find all sorts of non-food items all for Y100.
