House Manual/Rules:

Please make yourself at home:) The house manual/rules are here to help you, for safety and to keep the place in good shape

-property is 1 1/2 acres extending over the ridge to the west and the south slope
-no outdoor fires without a fire permit by order of the county fire marshal and no outdoor fires for anyone after June 1
-wildlife includes elk, deer, wild turkeys, quail, numerous regional and seasonal birds. Coyotes and foxes have been spotted in the area less commonly. Feel free to take photos, no hunting permitted
-there is a hose by the white fence and a hose connection on the north face of the building. Please only use this in an emergency as the water from this faucet tends to pool against the foundation
-there is a blackberry bush removal project going on on the south slope of the building fyi
-there is a small charcoal grill in the basement, let me know ahead of time if you plan on using it

-dishwasher is operated with touch sensors. First press power then the quick cycle or the normal cycle. Please do not overfill with dish detergent liquid
-for coffee I use the pour over method usually. Coffee beans and a grinder are available and there is a French press available also

Living area:

-please remove your shoes, thank you
-after June 1 please let me know if you intend to use the fireplace. Firewood is available at the grocery store. The flu is open and can be left open
-on hot summer days it can help to lower the blinds on the large living area windows. Cooling is solely the wall unit ductless system
-the furnace can be operated using the touchpad outside of the bathroom. Keep in mind that the ductless heat/cool system is more energy efficient

-septic system. Nothing but bath tissue should be flushed. Most importantly no grease, no fabric softeners, no disinfectant wipes or hygiene products should be flushed
-there is a bathtub with a showerhead. No standup shower. Please do not attempt to move the bathtub - that could potentially disrupt the plumbing connection underneath
-the floor is made of river stones. There are two loose stones just as you enter FYI
-Bath towels and face towels are provided. If you want a wash cloth or more linens you can find them in the linen closet

-feel free to hang your clothes in the built-in closet
-the windows in the bedroom are water stained, cannot be easily opened and will eventually need to be replaced FYI. For a cross breeze try opening the sliding glass door on the deck and or the kitchen door or bathroom window
-light blocking curtains if you want to sleep in!

-TV available with Blu ray disc player and Roku with Hulu
-to operate the disc player you will need to switch the input to HDMI 1
-the sound bar can be operated using the separate small controller. It is recommended that you mute the television speakers when using the sound bar or there can be an echo
-feel free to open the sliding glass window to the second deck for a cross breeze but please avoid leaving it open for extended periods of time as insects and even mice could enter:)

-primarily for storage and laundry. Feel free to go down there if you want but not much to see

Main deck:

-several types of chairs available including rocking Adirondack chairs. These chairs can be folded FYI by pushing on the back of the chair forward – please do not allow young children to play on the chairs as there could be a risk of a pinch injury or of the chairs folding unexpectedly. Use caution with moving and preferably have someone to help you:)
-if you use the deck light please remember to turn it off:)

Stevenson, Washington, Vereinigte Staaten

A few ideas:
-- Falls Creek Falls is a nice easy hike with a spectacular waterfall at the end, it's also shaded. You can get directions from the trail guide on the living room table called Curious Gorge
--Dog Mountain is a challenging hike but with spectacular views and wildflowers. If you go on the weekend show up early or else the parking area will be full. Another option would be to park at the Stevenson Fairgrounds and there is a bus that runs out to the Dog Mountain trailhead
-- Skamania Lodge has a fantastic weekend brunch but I would go prepared to get your money's worth!
-- Pfriem brewery in Hood River is top notch and is also a restaurant. The drive out there is very nice
-- driving along the old Columbia River Gorge Highway is beautiful and there are multiple short waterfall hikes along the way, just look for the turnouts. This route is very popular though so if you're going to go on the weekend I would show up early like around 9 AM or 10 AM
-- The Fish Hatchery is also along this route and the Sturgeon aquarium which is free is really cool.
-- there is a fish ladder at the Bonneville dam which is interesting
-- for a nice lunch out on the river or brunch I'd recommend Clark's and Lewie's, you can also see the kite surfers from this location

If there are more specific activities that you're looking for, feel free to ask!
