I have shared my place with many people, and find the experience to be delightful. I speak a little Spanish and do pretty well in French and German.
We came to Mill Valley to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary and attend a family wedding at Muir Beach. The Mountain Retreat's vista views, the beauty of the Redwoods, the tranquility of our space exceeded our expectations. Be prepared for mountain road travel, but it is all worth it. Edie, the black lab, greeted us each morning and evening as if we were family. Nice. We would stay at Suki's Mountain Retreat again.
We had a wonderful time at Suki's home! It was a magical experience all around. Our sons enjoyed exploring and even got to play baseball in the yard on our last night with Suki's grandkids. Edie the dog, was also welcoming and kept us company for much of the time. The sunrise every morning on the patio was a highlight as were the sights and scents of Suki's beautiful gardens and fruit trees. Suki and Charlie were very gracious hosts and we felt incredibly privileged that we got to spend time in this unique place surrounded by redwoods and natural beauty. We appreciated the small touches like a children's book library, lots of homey furniture and blankets, a kitchen with everything we needed to make our meals, and posters and artwork from iconic San Francisco days. Suki offers the perfect balance of warm hospitality and privacy. Definitely recommended for either small families or couples. We look forward to returning!
A very restful place with amazing views of San Francisco right from your very own, private patio. Enjoyed walking down the mountain steps to town and walking to Muir woods as well. If you're a hiker you'll love the options...leave the car in park. Amazing citrus trees add fragrance to your days and zip to your drinks. A special treat.
Something a little more than you might be expecting; this retreat is just that, a retreat from the mundane, a retreat from the prosaic.
Your hostess is a crackerjack and the location is out of this world. As you might expect for this sort of venue there is a little effort involved on your part to get there - but once there it is sublime.
We used this as a base to visit San Francisco, a pleasant twenty minute drive away, but you could just as easily remain in a mile and a half radius and have a fabulous stay.
We have stayed in many places around the globe, but this ranks well up on the list. It would be a privleage to be able to return.
"Suki's Mountain Retreat" is definitely a mountain retreat and a breathtaking one at that. Ideally located for easy & quick trips to Muir Beach, Muir Woods, mountain trails and Mill Valley's town center, this retreat is also convenient for trips to-and-from San Francisco and anywhere in the Bay area. Be aware though that you may just want to stay put from time-to-time at Suki's retreat and enjoy the calm & peaceful view of the bay!
You'll have everything you'll need here. As the previous comment mentioned, it's best to first arrive during daylight for easy navigation to the abode. It doesn't take long to get used to the beautiful drive up and down the mountain though. On that note: it's best to have a vehicle for this location, especially if one wants to fully take in what the area has to offer, but it's also doable without one as long as one does the necessary research & planning ahead of time, and especially if one is planning on making more of a retreat out of the stay.
Suki is an excellent host. Her love for Mill Valley comes through in her enthusiasm of this beautiful place. I will very likely be staying here again! Thanks Suki!
We had a great time and were pleasantly surprised by the location. Recommend arriving before dark unless you are familiar with the area. A perfect weekend getaway.
Suki's place is nothing short of magical. There are orange and lemon trees on the terrace overlooking the Bay and all of the beautiful things in between Marin and the city. This is a place to sip coffee and watch the sunrise, hike nearby trails, have easy access to beautiful Mill Valley and enjoy wine and great conversation in the evening. You won't want to go anywhere else and you really shouldn't - if you don't have to. As for Suki, she's a lovely hostess, amazingly talented, and incredibly kind.
What a beautiful place to get away from it all! Had a great weekend running the trails of the coastal mountains and returning to Suki's magical retreat to watch the moon rise over the bay...
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Suki's cozy and charming guest quarters. The view can't be beat and the weather was wonderful. A very relaxing retreat to get away from the daily grind.
We had a lovely stay at Suki's Mountain Retreat. There is a great walking trail nearby that leads up to Mt. Tam and the view from the house is gorgeous.
