At the end of this road is a stunning view of the heads. Nice loop walk down to the beach on the left, walk around the heads on low tide, up DOC path to return.

Probably one of the best views in the north island of New Zealand.

Enjoy spectacular views of the harbour and coastline on this short easy walk The track follows the top of the cliffs, then enters tall manuka and suddenly opens out at the headland and grassed lookout.

Nice walk and interesting history of the old Signal Station, that used to guide boats in over the sand bar.

Point of Interest
“It is a fabulous artwork by world renowned architect and artist Frederisch Hundertwasser, who lived in Kawakawa for 25 years until his death. He gifted the artwork to the local council and renewed the toilets with his artwork and architecture. We are very proud of our 'loos'. ”

“Sand Surfing on the Giant Te Paki Sand Dunes For those of us who are thrill seekers …. try Sand-surfing, its totally exhilarating, and very fast. You can hire sand boards on site. It is best to do this as these boards are specifically designed for sand, are easily controlled and can slide fast down the slopes.”
