Mad River Glen became one of Vermont’s first major ski areas when the Single Chair began carrying skiers to the top of General Stark Mountain in 1948. From the very beginning, Mad River Glen has been unique, a place where skiing is a sport not an industry, working with nature not against it. A co-operatively run mountain with nearly all natural snow, and one of the only single chairs left in the world. The skiing here is rugged, challenging, and downright rewarding. The old school lifts means there is still plenty of snow on the trails and the lodge feels like you're hanging out with your friends from a bygone era. General Stark's Lodge often has great local music and the food and beer are so reasonably priced, you may stay longer than you intended.
