Where gold was discovered. Great place to take the kids and pets, enjoy sightseeing, have a picnic in the park or swim at the beach area.

This is where the Gold Rush started - we love the history. Our daughter and I were docents here while she was still in high school . Our other daughter was married in the old church there. On volunteer work day, we were privileged to dust every surface in the park - the pews in the church, the artifacts in the Chinese store, etc.

Great locations for whitewater rafting and kayaking, gold panning, and also the historic sites. Sutter's mill, Mormon cabin, and the little downtown area in Coloma.

Tour the place where gold was found in California. Hands on gold panning, blacksmith demonstrations and an interesting place to see. Can get hot during summer days.
