A wonderful place to get your feet in the unique black sand of Hawaii and maybe see some honu (turtles) sunning themselves.

“This is a very nice beach that we usually have all to ourselves. It is about a 15 minute walk through the rainforest to get to it. The waves are excellent for people of all ages and the boogie boarding is decent. Very nice place.”

“Always interesting things happening here - even when there’s nothing but a food truck and skateboarders 🤠 the Sunday farmers market is a must! (skate park section temp. closed)”

“Kīlauea is sometimes called “the world’s only drive-in volcano.” This beloved park encompasses more than 300,000 acres, with dozens of miles through volcanic craters, scalded deserts, and rainforests, as well as a museum, petroglyphs, a walk-in lava tube and two active volcanoes. The extraordinary natural diversity of the park has been recognized as an International Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and has also been honored as a World Heritage Site. This park is 54 miles or about a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from our center. Nearby is Volcano Village, an area with galleries, studios, cafes, and shops that highlight the talents of the artists living locally.”
