This Santa Fe landmark cinema is named after the French filmamker and artist Jean Cocteau and is now owned by George R. R. Martin, the creator of "Game of Thrones". It is both a small cinema and an art gallery and this place also hosts a variety of events from live music to book readings and burlesque shows. It also features a small bar that offers wines, beers and cocktails that can be taken to the viewing rooms and enjoyed while watching a movie. Also, try the yummy buttered popcorn sprinkled with brewer's yeast or red chile powder or the indulgent cinnamon+sugar popcorn.

The Jean Cocteau Cinema is Santa Fe’s eclectic movie house, full bar, and special events venue. Owned by George RR Martin and managed by Highgarden Entertainment, it has long been a beloved destination on the corner of Montezuma and Market. Following a series of community input events, we are in the process of reimagining our space, renovating the cinema and re-developing our website. Alongside the relaunch of the movie house, we are planning a series of exciting Highgarden Hangout events this winter and spring.

George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame owns it. Best popcorn ever, eclectic film programming, Tons of small events, talks, comedy shows, and signed by author books including Diana Gabaldon of Outlander fame and a raft of Sci-Fi authors who are friends of George.
