The main reason people come here - Turoa Ski Area is where it's at during winter. One of our favourite places on the planet!
Winter: Enjoy some great skiing or snowboarding. This is the closest side of the mountain to Gum Tree Haven. Summer: There are numerous walks/hikes around this area ranging from under 3 hours to day hikes and multi day hikes.
Turoa ski field is situated on the southern slopes of Mt Ruapehu. You can hire skis, snowboards and gear from different operators in Ohakune.
