John Wesley Hunt was a hemp merchant and perhaps the first millionaire west of the Alleghenies. This Federal Style building was also home to General John Morgan. Dr. Thomas Hunt Morgan also lived there and was a Nobel Prize winner for Physiology (that would be Medicine) in 1933.

“Gratz Park is a neighborhood and historic district that is just a block away from the Airbnb. It was named after early Lexington businessman Benjamin Gratz whose home stands on the corner of Mill and New streets at the edge of Gratz Park. I love to wander around this square, of beautiful historic houses. It’s a very peaceful part of downtown and a great place to sit and read a book. ”
