Drive, hike or cycle, the mountain is a natural phenomenon that never ceases to amaze. So beautiful.
The Mt Macedon Memorial Cross is my favourite place to go locally for the views.
About an hour's drive northwest of Melbourne, the town of Mount Macedon nestles at the base of its namesake mountain and was a popular escape from the summer heat for Melbourne's well-to-do after the gold rush.
Take a walk to the cross on the mountain with great views. Also drive the mountain road with lovely cafe's and visit the Forest Glade Gardens.
We are very lucky in the Macedon Ranges to have beautiful walks through nature for a range of abilities and fitness levels. Refer to guide book for tracks, a personal favourite is the Bawden Road / Douglas Road to Macedon Memorial Cross - however it is quite challenging.
