There is often parking at Balboa Pier and the area is filled with shops, restaurants and an arcade area called "The Balboa Fun Zone" It is a great place to explore on a summer's evening. Take the ferry to Balboa Island and explore both sides of the harbor.
Fun little Main Street and walk on the pier. This is on the beach across from the ferry.
Ready to get out for a stroll along the beach, some sight seeing, local food and drink...this is the spot!

“This walk-to Irish Pub is a staple to the Newport Beach Peninsula and known as the Lifeguard's Bar. Famous for being one of the most active bars, this is a great place to get a taste of the Newport night culture. Many age demographics frequent this place, however, it is most popular with a younger (21 - 25 year old) crowd. Their breakfast is great! They have a great selection and "The Kitchen Sink Breakfast Burrito" is arguably one of the best breakfast burritos in Newport Beach.”

“Very much a dive...you can find people drinking here even at 6am! But a great place in the evening to grab a cheap drink and shoot some pool.”

“Great place for an afternoon of fun! Balboa Fun Zone has gift shops, little restaurants, penny arcades, a ferris wheel and a couple of other large rides, plus other attractions (street artist who draws portraits of you for a fee; boat rides, etc.). Beautiful Pacific Ocean and a clean beach to the west, swarms of happy people, some of them experiencing for the very first time the many delights of a tacky, low-tech amusement park with a penny arcade and an excellent place for "street photography" because of opportunities to take photos of the colorful ferris wheel, of tourists sporting colorful tattoos, of kids clutching melting ice cream cones, and so on.”
