Lake and waterfalls, what else do you need? We absolutely love spending time here: kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, rope swinging, waterfall jumping- the fun is endless.
Especially on hot days, this lake is the go-to place. You can swim, hike and kayak. Some trails include waterfalls. Brandy Creek and Oak Flats are favorites. Unfortunately our big fire in 2018 started out here, so ask at the visitor center re what parts of the park are open.
Take the Keswick Dam route to get to Whiskeytown lake area. You’ll enjoy this scenic drive. There are a lot of fun things to do such as night time kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking and more. Some great history as well.

“Whiskeytown Lake’s beautiful crystal-clear waters, surrounded by mountain peaks, are perhaps the most prominent feature of the park. However, water-based recreation is only a small part of what the park has to offer. The 39,000 acres surrounding the lake hold four waterfalls, pristine mountain creeks, 70 miles of trails, and opportunities to explore the history of the California Gold Rush.”

“A nice day trip would consist of visiting the lava tubes (also in guidebook) on the way to Burney Falls to explore. ”

“Interested in hiking and taking in as much fresh air as you can? Look no further than Lassen National Park. Depending upon how far you decide to go, this park is about 45min to an hour's drive outside of Redding. It's far enough away that you feel like it's an escape, yet close enough to still feel right at home. ”
