Hervey Bay is a playground stopover for the whales on their long trip south and are a 'must see' for anyone visiting our region during the whale season. The 'Blessing of the Fleet' and the Whale Parade is usually at the beginning of August and the season lasts for three to four months. The boats all leave from Whale Bay Marina, Buccaneer Drive, Urangan.

Hervey Bay is without doubt the best place in the world to see humpback whales which are huge and very active. At anytime in Hervey bay during the season there can be up to 50 whales in the bay cavorting with each other. The season runs for June till October Its about a 3 hour drive from Noosa and you can take a half day trip perhaps you could fit it into a day trip from Noosa ( my favourite boat is the Spirit of Hervey Bay) and if you're travelling North from Noosa during this time it is a must do. The experience of a lifetime!
