Close to the Limfjord coast on Salling lies one of the clear most fascinating attractions in the area if you are to knights, princesses and the wings of history. Here is Denmark's best preserved medieval castle namely. Spøttrup Borg was built in the late Middle Ages at the beginning of the 16th century, and to this day, the building's thick walls, many defensive measures and double moat still provide a unique insight into how a gentleman's seat then defended itself against outsiders. It is a great experience for young and old to walk under the arched vaults and into the same old halls where bishops, nobles and knights of the day were partying. Outside the castle there is a large, beautiful park, which includes, among other things, an exciting herb garden, where you can become wiser about the healing properties of various herbs. Throughout the year, a series of events are held at the castle, where the story is brought to life. Here are popular Christmas and autumn markets with lots of activities, and in July, West Jutland's largest medieval market will be held on site. Spøttrup castle is the most original medieval castle in Denmark, and it is highly rated by our guests, so well worth it to visit. New Spøttrup Farm was sub-divided from the castle in 1870. Only 10 min. drive from New Spøttrup Farm.
