A beautiful tranquil place. An ancient pilgrimage site filled with history art and secular exotic plants that were brought over as gifts from pilgrims. There are 24 chapels dedicated to the life and story of St. Francis of Assisi. there is also a beautiful church with stunning view over the lake. the is the perfect spot for a picnic, there is even a designated area with tables and beautiful trees.

It's a UNESCO Heritage Site (since 2003!), incredibly panoramic and well preserved, encompassing 21 buildings fully frescoed and embellished with multicolored terracotta statues dating, all dating back mainly to the 17th century! The site is surrounded by a Nature Reserve in which you can stroll and relax, enjoying the breathtaking view of Lake Orta. You can reach it from Orta car-parking in 20 minutes on foot.
