Lake Wendouree has a wonderful 6km walking track around its shores with beautiful views and exercise equipment for those wanting to work out. There are playgrounds for the children at the lake with picnic facilities & an ice cream van. A tourist tramway operates on the weekends and public holidays. For coffee & cake or a more substantial lunch or dinner we suggest The Boathouse restaurant or Lakeview Hotel which are situated beside the lake. Racers Cafe is also another good option. Next to the lake is Ballarat Botanic Gardens. Home to the iconic begonias and an impressive display of century old trees and spectacular horticultural displays. The Prime Ministers walk is an interesting monument to our political history and the prisoners of war memorial honours our military past. The gardens also contain a small little gem of a shop hidden in the ferns ‘Adam Lindsay Cottage’. Here you can buy handmade local Ballarat arts & crafts, operated by volunteers who are happy to answer any questions you may have about Ballarat.

A must visit with kids. Great spot for BBQ or picnic. Close to Pipers Cafe and opposite Botanical Gardens.

Great playground located next to Wendoree Lake. Great spot to let the kids have some fun for free. Lovely spot to take a picnic lunch. Walking/ bike track also around the lake.
