This restaurant holds a special place in my heart as we used to live in Wadsworth, IL. It is a short trip and IMO worth it. You will need reservations. The owner, Dimitri, has worked so hard to expand and turn this old restaurant into a destination! They too were featured on the Food Network's DDD! The same family owns the attached, Captain Porky's Restaurant.

Great place for food and drinks. Some nights they offer live bands. www.theshantyrestaurant.com

They are famous for being on a food show. Their food is decent. The real reason to go is for their fried alligator appetizer.
