A 15mins drive from the loft has you in a diverse environment of forest and sea life. An easy 2km trail leads to the ocean & connects you to up to 7km more of trail to explore! If you have the energy, I suggest following the trail to witness the wildness of Dodds Narrows!

This is a great destination when wanting something more than an hour and with good variety of viewes and terrain. A bonus, my dog runs free under the tree canopy which provides shade from the sun as well as shelter when things turn wet. 20 minutes drive from Nanaimo one can go for a hike to Cable Bay and get a close up view of Gabriola Island to the west of the entrance to Dodd Narrows. It's a favourite dog walking trail for locals in the Cedar as well as Nanaimo area. Allow 2 hours round trip from start of the trail head.

A beautiful medium level hike down through the forest to some gorgeous ocean coastline. You’ll know you’re close when you hear the sea lions calling!
