The Royal Hospital Kilmainham is an iconic landmark, built in 1680. It is open to public to visit the grounds at no cost. The grounds and gardens are lovely here and very pleasant to stroll through. The Irish Museum of Modern art is also housed on the grounds and is worth a visit, again at no cost.

Located just around the corner, the IMMA has a great selection of modern art and often brings special exhibits to Dublin. The grounds are gorgeous and reminiscent of "Alice in Wonderland."
