Sheltered sandy beach, with a playground, exercise circuit, toilets and free barbecues and shelter in the park behind the beach. Note: no dogs on beach or in the vicinity of the playground or barbecues. One of the best places in the region for photographing the Aurora australis - if you're lucky!

By car or bus a beautiful stop along the way south. Or take food in your picnic basket and start up the BBQ anytime right on the beach. Or stop at the Shot Tower for a climb up the tower then refreshments inside or on terrace.
