Tipps von Einheimischen
If you have some time to meander this drive is geographically beautiful. There are pull over places and some great hiking off of Needles Highway.
Keep in mind this is a winding, narrow road. Would not advise an RV or if someone in your group gets car sick. The views are out of this world.
Needles highway is an iconic winding highway with one lane tunnels and stunning views of the Black Hills.

“Sylvan Lake is beautiful. Even when it is too cold to swim, the hiking and sightseeing around this area are not to be missed”

Park
“There are numerous places close to the cabin for hiking. But our family favorite, especially if you have older kids with, is the Devil’s Bathtub located in Spearfish Canyon. Get ready to get wet with multiple opportunities to cross the stream while on your hike. In the end, a waterfall that doubles as a slide will be sure to entertain. ”

Amerikanisches Restaurant
“Located in the city of Custer, it is on the expensive side and would recommend for adults only. It has unique menu and excellent food. Most of the food is not friendly to kids' palates. It is not a chain restaurant, expect slower service. *Note, many restaurants close in the late fall and winter in the smaller towns. Check to see if open before arriving. ”
