The best place to view the sunset is at the corner of the Malecón y Paseo. This place is perfect for being alone with your thoughts. Go for a walk. Feel the breeze. Lie down on the Malecón. Some have been known to bring their guitars. We live on an island. Being on the waterfront opens your horizons. If the Malecón is wet, quickly move to the side; when the tide rolls in, it comes in fast.

Die Uferpromenade mit ihren mächtigen Kaimauern sollte in erster Linie die Stadt vor dem Meer schützen. Regelmäßig wurden die Gebäude am Meer von den Winterstürmen beschädigt. 1901 begonnen, war er erst 1950 fertiggestellt. Leider wurden die Häuserzeilen an seinem Rand über vier Jahrzehnte sträflich vernachlässigt. Erst seitdem UNESCO-Mittel vorhanden sind, versucht man mit allen Kräften, den Prachtbauten ihren einstigen Glanz zurückzugeben und eine der schönsten Avenidas der Welt wieder herzustellen.

Malecón habanero is located in Havana. It comprises a wide six-lane avenue and a very long wall that extends over the entire north coast of the Cuban capital for 8 kilometers. Important monuments stand along the avenue, such as that of Generalissimo Máximo Gómez, that of Major General Antonio Maceo and that of General Calixto García, in addition to important avenues in the capital that end at the boardwalk such as Calle 23, Avenida of the Presidents and Paseo Avenue. Other representative buildings and monuments of the capital also line the entire length of Malecón avenue, such as the Castillo de la Real Fuerza de La Habana, the Castillo de San Salvador de la Punta, the Torreón de San Lázaro, the entrance to the Tunel de La Havana, the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, the US embassy, the Torreón de la Chorrera and the Malecón 17 "Las Cariátides" building, formerly the Unión Club, designed and built in 1924 by the renowned firm of architects Govantes and Cabarrocas, later rehabilitated to house the Cultural Center of Spain in Havana in 1998 by the Architect Miguel Viera Medal. Malecón stretches along the entire coast of the city, from Old Havana to Miramar. It is about 8 kilometers along . A walk along the boardwalk gives us the opportunity to experience a very important part of the life of the city and its inhabitants
