Founded in 1894, this important historic site is where the (now dwarf) planet Pluto was discovered. Several of the telescope buildings are open to visitors and there are regular programs and tours at the visitor center both during the day and most nights (including telescope viewing opportunities)…

Where Percival Lowell discovered Pluto. Fabulous views of the sky due to Flagstaff's Dark Sky City efforts (and designation).

Flagstaff has the best stargazing I've ever experienced, so Lowell Observatory is a great place to visit to learn about the night sky and space beyond. Pluto was even discovered here, so you can check out the telescope used in its discovery!
