“This owes its planning to the visionary spirit of the Almadas whose restoration work brought a new brightness to the city of Porto in the second half of the 18th Century. The road was extended as far as Alameda da Aguardente, today's Praça Marquês de Pombal. Its imposing façades house some fine examples of the Art Nouveau style. “This park is also known as the “lung of the city” and is not only the largest urban park in Porto but in Portugal, with around 83 hectares. People who come here will have the possibility to spend pleasant moments in the company of family or friends, whether it is resting on the grass that covers a large part of the park or strolling through the various paths, some of which lead to the coast. In addition to the green of the grass, you will also marvel at the diversity of trees that you will find there, as well as some lakes that delight the children who try to throw a piece of bread at the beautiful ducks that swim in these waters.”
